Pam Ford with winner Steve O’Rourke

Sixty four anglers got together to remember Keith Ford, a great man who worked tirelessly over many years to ensure the banks of the River Yare were made available to anglers and match fishing until his sad and sudden passing in 2011.

The two day event saw some good weights across the board with skimmers and bream dominating on the Saturday and roach making up the majority of weights on the Sunday.

Top weight on day one was Harleston based Mark Taylor with 26lbs 4oz of bream and skimmers from peg 163 at Langley Wood.

Nick Larkin claimed the runner up spot with a 22lbs 8oz net of skimmers and bream from peg 140 right of Langley Pump, ahead of Paul Abbott with 19lbs 2oz from peg 165.

Fourth with 18lbs on peg 152 was Doug Botley four ounces ahead of Craig Nichols on peg peg 85 with 17lbs 12oz.

Day two was again a tight affair with Steve Clark topping the score sheet with 22lbs 3oz from peg 148 just one ounce ahead of Steve O’Rourkewith 22lbs 2oz from peg 98.

Third place was taken by Simon Pointer with 21lbs 4oz from peg 160 just ahead of Glenn Hubbard with 20lbs 9oz of roach from peg 124.

the final place in the frame was taken by England International Simon Willsmore with 18lbs 2oz from peg 162.

The overall standings were also a tight affair with less than five pounds separating the top five anglers.

Steve O’Rourke amassed a total weight of 37lbs 2oz to top the rankings and win the Keith Ford Memorial Trophy.

Runner up over the two days was Pete Gitsham with 34lbs 4oz just four ounces ahead of previous winner Paul Abbott on 34lbs who in turn was just two ounces ahead Craig Nichols on 33lbs 14oz with Glenn Hubbard close behind with 32lbs 15oz.

A great weekend was had by all with the icing on the cake being a fantastic £750 and counting raised for charity.
