Ninety-two anglers fished the first Saturday Open Match with the first round of the NISA Feeders King of the Yare Series run alongside.

With the 18 degrees drop in temperature from the previous day combined with a northerly wind and a surge tide the fishing was quite hard compared to the normal Yare standards and the eels were in abundance.

Yare regular Steve Clark won the day with 13lb 15oz from peg 167 on the Langley bank.

Runner up Ben Jackson fished pole for most of the match on peg 76 for 11lbs dead.

Third with 9lbs 14oz was Dave Reeve from peg 68 with Yorkshires Chris White in fourth with 8lbs 8oz from peg 79.

Fifth following his win the previous day on the Bure was Simon Smith with 7lbs 12oz including a large bream from peg 74 closely followed in sixth by Robert Hubbard with 7lbs 8oz.
