Ninety four anglers travelled from across the country to fish the first match of the season on the River Yare and compete for the Tim Nash Memorial Cup.

As with early season matches it was a bit of going into the unknown, with fishing being patchy throughout the match stretch with pockets of skimmers and bream all the way through.

Winner on the Day was Kings Lynne angler Ray Malle, pegged on 71 on the Boards Ray netted around 20 skimmers for 23lbs 14oz.

Ray was really proud to have won this particular trophy and commented “I knew Tim well, a true competitor. We had many a battle over the years, he is truly missed.”

Runner up was last years winner Craig (Scrappy) Nichols with a net of skimmers from peg 70.

Third was England feeder maestro Will Freeman with 16lb 6oz from peg 92, 2 ounces ahead of Steve Hansed on peg 68 with 16lbs 4oz.

Fifth from peg 132 was Glenn Hubbard with 15lbs 13oz with Adie Hindry just behind in sixth place with 15 lbs 8oz.
